Panama City This was a different trip. We decided that we would do our family trip in summer this year.
So, since Maya, Noa and I were spending the summer in Milwaukee, we met Satcha in Panama for a 2 week family vacation and then we flew back to Milwaukee and Satcha flew back to Spain. It was a fun trip, different in the sense that it wasn't a "buck-list" trip, but it was still fun exploring a new place with my 3 favorite people!

Panama City was fun. We stayed in the old part, which was really pretty. A lot of the buildings are refurbished and it's a very pretty old town to Slothwalk around. The first day was really exciting. We went to Ancon Hill and walked to the top. At the top we had beautiful views of Panama City and the Panama Canal. As we walked down, we saw a sloth!!! It was climbing up a tree branch. The four of us were so excited to have seen a sloth in the wild on the first day!!!

Panama CanalThe Panama Canal was impressive also. I was surprised by it. It is an engineering marvel, the story of it is interesting and seeing all the huge ships wait and pass though is cool. When we did the Monkey Island Tour we took a boat on the Panama Canal and rode past a HUGE container ship. It's amazing how big they are and how much they carry.

We did different day tours from Panama City: we went to San Blas Islands which were very pretty and the water was a crystal clear turquoise, we did a free tour for Casco Antiguo, we went to the Gamboa Rainforest and took an aerial tram to the top of a hill that overlooked the Charges River and the Panama Canal, we went to a sloth sanctuary that helps hurt or abandoned sloths recover and be sent back into the wild and we did the Monkey Island tour that took us to different islands that monkeys lived on so we could see different types of monkeys like the Capuchin and hear the Howler monkey yells. We also just hung out and played a lot of card games!!!

Bocas del Toro Playa BluffFrom Panama City we flew to Bocas del Toro where the plan was to hang out, relax by the beach and the pool and scuba dive. We did just that!!! Relax, Relax, Relax, Beach, Beach, Beach, Pool, Pool, Pool!!!

Scuba diving with MayaMaya and I also went scuba diving!!! It was her first "real" dives (not in a mucky Wisconsin lake!!!). The first dive we went to Buoy Line where we saw a nurse shark in a sunken ship!!! MAYA SAW A SHARK ON HER FISRT DIVE!!! Then we went to Pandora where we saw sting rays, spotted moray eels and lots of fish. On another day we went to the Dolphin Rock and Sashe dive sites. We saw a lot of different types of fish, but the last dive was really hard because of the surge pushing us around. It was so much fun to have Maya as a new dive buddy!

After Bocas del Toro we flew back to Panama City where we went our separate ways after our fun family vacation. Satcha flew back to Spain and Maya, Noa and I flew back to Milwaukee.
