Satcha surprised me with a trip to London for my 30th Birthday!!!!It was Friday, June 26, 2009 and I was relaxing on the couch after eating lunch. Satcha walked into the living room holding a backpack in his hand and said to me, "I don't know about you, but I'm going to pack the backpack for the weekend." I looked at him in surprise and asked what he was talking about. He said that he thought it would be a good idea if I packed a backpack with enough clothes and necessities for 3 days and that I had to be ready at 7:50pm!!!!! He didn't say where, only that we were going somewhere for the weekend to celebrate my 30th birthday!!!!!!!
Obviously I got nervous! Me!??! Pack a bag for 3 days not knowing where we were going!?!?!? What type of clothes did I need!?!?!? Would it be warm, cold, etc?!?!?! Well, I packed the backpack with "normal-warm" clothes brining along a sweatshirt just in case.
At 7:50pm
Raquel came to pick us up to take us to the airport and that's when it accidentally slipped out that we were going to London!!!! London Baby, Yeah!!!! I figured that we were going to London to spend the weekend and visit friends since Satcha and I had never been there together. But, as we walked into the airport Satcha said to me, "You don't know WHY we're going, do you?!?!?" And that's when it hit me: Dave Matthews Band was kicking off their European tour in London that weekend!!!! WE WERE GOING TO SEE THE DAVE MATTHEWS BAND IN LONDON!!!!!! It was the best present in the world...and what a surprise!!!!!So, we got to London and Chris picked us up from the Airport and took us to their house where we were staying for the weekend. It was so fun staying with Chris, Miren and Noa. We spent time together on Saturday walking around their neighborhood and enjoying a BBQ at their house. They showed us a wonderful time in London!!!!!
On Sunday we went to the Hard Rock Calling
in Hyde Park and saw Gaslight Anthem, James Morrison, Dave Matthews Band and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. OBVIOUSLY Dave Matthews Band was the best show of all of the groups...they jammed for an hour and a half. It was great!!!! Then Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band came on and played for 3 hours straight. They did a really good show!!
On Monday...30th Birthday day!!!...we started with a Starbucks breakfast and then walked around London. We saw the major sights before we had to take the train to the airport and fly back to Bilbao that afternoon.I still can't believe that I went to London and saw DMB for my 30th birthday...This was a PERFECT birthday and trip!!!!

Christine, I've just read some of your travel stories and they are sooooo goooood!!! Reading your surprise trip to London has brought me lots of memories :-) Thank you so much for staying with us, it was great to spend time with you and Satcha.
