One of the best and most romantic surprises I've ever gotten was given to me last Christmas 2024. For Secret Santa, Satcha handed me an envelope, and inside was his gift: a trip to Paris to celebrate 25 years since the first time he surprised me with the same trip back in November 2000.
We'd visited Paris a few times since 2000, always with the kids and family, but this trip was just the two of us. Being back after all these years felt really special. Paris is still busy and beautiful, and it brought back so many memories from that trip in 2000.
We ended up doing all the classic tourist stuff again,
just like we did back then. We visited Notre Dame, walked along the Seine, walked to the Louvre, went to Montmartre and saw the Basilica of the Sacré Coeur, and basically just let ourselves enjoy being in the city without any planning.
The best part, though, was going back to the Eiffel Tower on the exact same day and around the same time we took our original photo in 2000. We stood in the same spot (which took us a little to figure out where it was), and retook the picture. It was funny and sentimental to recreate it after a quarter of a century.
The whole trip was such a good reminder that some memories are worth reliving - and that sometimes the second time around feels just as good as the first.
It was the best surprise I'd ever received!!!!! How romantic!!!!!
